S/he MOVES

While watching college football on Saturday the 12th I finally felt Peanut move on the inside for the first time ever. I wasn't sure it was him/her at first, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was now. Daddy is thrilled because it was during the Michigan game. I was half asleep and tried to stay that way and as still as I could to try and feel it more and more. It so exciting!!!!!

Week 13 scare

I had some spotting the week of August 24th, so we were back at the doctor's within a week of our last appointment. We met with Pam (NP) who was so wonderful. She was so nice and understanding. She did an examination and another ultrasound and Peanut moved for her. Everything is fine and we are so relieved!

Week 12 with Dr. Bozeman

On August 17th we finally got to meet our OB, Dr. Bozeman. Dr. Faber (our RE) recommended him for his many years of private practice and strong patient following. We weren't supposed to get an ultrasound at this visit, but Peanut hid from the heartbeat monitor. It was a little scary for a while, but as soon as he found him/her with the monitor it was great! We didn't get to hear the heartbeat, but Peanut did some moving and shaking for the ultrasound, which was way exciting!!
Peanut doesn't look so much like a Peanut anymore! :) We especially love that it looks like s/he's sucking his/her thumb in this picture!

Week 8 with NP

On July 20 we went to our first OB appointment. Joe couldn't attend due to work, so my mom went with us and almost cried at the ultrasound. It was really special. We didn't expect another ultrasound since we'd just had one a week and a half ago, but we lucked out. Our appointment was with our fantastic Nurse Practitioner Pam Culig. I couldn't be happier with her. She is exactly what I want from an NP. She took a bunch of pictures since Joe couldn't be there. Peanut measured in at 1.44 cm and 7 weeks, 6 days. He was actually 8 weeks exactly, but that's okay.

And here's a close up of our little Peanut. It's amazing how different s/he looks already from the u/s a week and a half ago!! We're so proud and already so in love!

And Peanut Makes Three

On Saturday, June 20th - the day before Father's Day - after 1 1/2 years of trying, incuding 5 months of hard work with our wonderful Reproductive Endrochronologist, Dr. Faber, we found out we were expecting our first little Peanut. Joe was taking Sonya on her morning walk and I couldn't wait until our scheduled Monday test day, so I figured what the heck. The test turned positive while I was brushing my teeth and I went running through the house like a crazy woman, yelling off the balcony trying to track Joe down. I could just barely wait for him to get back home. Sonya thought we had finally really lost it! We took 6 tests over the next three days and still weren't convinced.

This is one of the few pictures we have of the Peanut belly until much later on as our camera died it's final death just after these pictures. This is the day we got our positive test, so just about 6 weeks along.

Later that week we had our last visit with Dr. Faber so that he too could confirm that we were finally expecting. These are the great first shots he got of our little Peanut (and how Peanut got his/her name). Peanut measured in at 0.48 cm and was pretty much right on schedule. Technology is AMAZING!!!

We couldn't be prouder of our Peanut!!

Visit from John & Kath

John & Kath (Joe's parents) came to visit us this past weekend. We had a blast!! We had lunch on LoDo's upstairs, outdoor patio; went to a Rockies Game (of course); hit all the spots - Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak; stayed at the cutest B&B in Manitou Springs (by Colorado Springs); and just had so much fun!! Can't wait for our next visitors... (I think if you click on the title of this post you can visit the rest of the picture album - that's what it says at least.)

This is Joe & I at yet another Rockies game...this was after the rain started...nice hair me!

We made sure to take them to Garden of the Gods - one of my favorite spots.

And we hit Cave of the Winds. Interesting, but not something I do often (especially with my claustrophobia).

We ended up staying Sunday and Monday night down in Manitou Springs (by Colorado Springs) at a really cute B&B. I highly recommend it - the Avenue B&B.

My parents came down on Monday - dad took Joe & John fly fishing and mom, Kath & I walked around town and had some yummy margaritas for lunch!!
Then we had to do the Pikes Peak drive. Joe did a really good job driving (his first time). It's really a crazy drive with dirt roads and a lot of hairpin turns and switchbacks. On the way down they monitor your breaks, and if they are more than 300 degrees at the check point, you have to pull off and let them cool. Joe's first time down he registered only a 157 - the park ranger seemed surprised at how good he did! :)

John with the Summit in the background - kind of neat to say we were just there! What a great trip!

Rockies vs. Padres

Since I've been very bad at keeping up with this, I thought I'd stick in a current blog out of sequence just so everyone knows we're still here. Unfortunately I thought I had more pictures, but apparently they're on my phone. I'll have to send them to myself and add to this later. We bought a mini-serious of Rockies' tickets this year. (1) becauase they were cheap and (2) to have an excuse to get outside...and (3) to see the Cubbies and Indians. This was this past Saturday and I think we saw the Padres. The Rockies sucked and we lost, but we were randomly just a few seats down from one of Joe's co-workers and her family (some of whom were visiting from San Diego...convenient), so we had a good time. Great weather, great company, beer - who needs anything more!

I still love the view of the mountains from Coors Stadium. I love watching baseball and seeing the mountains at the same time!

Joe's happy!
