Visit from John & Kath

John & Kath (Joe's parents) came to visit us this past weekend. We had a blast!! We had lunch on LoDo's upstairs, outdoor patio; went to a Rockies Game (of course); hit all the spots - Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak; stayed at the cutest B&B in Manitou Springs (by Colorado Springs); and just had so much fun!! Can't wait for our next visitors... (I think if you click on the title of this post you can visit the rest of the picture album - that's what it says at least.)

This is Joe & I at yet another Rockies game...this was after the rain started...nice hair me!

We made sure to take them to Garden of the Gods - one of my favorite spots.

And we hit Cave of the Winds. Interesting, but not something I do often (especially with my claustrophobia).

We ended up staying Sunday and Monday night down in Manitou Springs (by Colorado Springs) at a really cute B&B. I highly recommend it - the Avenue B&B.

My parents came down on Monday - dad took Joe & John fly fishing and mom, Kath & I walked around town and had some yummy margaritas for lunch!!
Then we had to do the Pikes Peak drive. Joe did a really good job driving (his first time). It's really a crazy drive with dirt roads and a lot of hairpin turns and switchbacks. On the way down they monitor your breaks, and if they are more than 300 degrees at the check point, you have to pull off and let them cool. Joe's first time down he registered only a 157 - the park ranger seemed surprised at how good he did! :)

John with the Summit in the background - kind of neat to say we were just there! What a great trip!

Rockies vs. Padres

Since I've been very bad at keeping up with this, I thought I'd stick in a current blog out of sequence just so everyone knows we're still here. Unfortunately I thought I had more pictures, but apparently they're on my phone. I'll have to send them to myself and add to this later. We bought a mini-serious of Rockies' tickets this year. (1) becauase they were cheap and (2) to have an excuse to get outside...and (3) to see the Cubbies and Indians. This was this past Saturday and I think we saw the Padres. The Rockies sucked and we lost, but we were randomly just a few seats down from one of Joe's co-workers and her family (some of whom were visiting from San Diego...convenient), so we had a good time. Great weather, great company, beer - who needs anything more!

I still love the view of the mountains from Coors Stadium. I love watching baseball and seeing the mountains at the same time!

Joe's happy!
